how to create a complex formula that calculates a 30% decrease
there are two ways to calculate decrease.
the first is what I consider easy. you take the number and multiply by 1. - (percent.)
for example: decrease $29.95 by 30%. (1 - .3) = .7
29.95 * .7 = $20.97.
The second formula is to do it in several steps this is ther complex way in my opinion:
first multiple the value by the decrease. $29.92 * .3 = 8.985.
then subtract that from 29.95. 29.95 - 9.85 = 20.97
$20.97
answers are the same.
