y=-2x^2 +3
To solve, set 2x^2+3=0.
-2x^2=-3
x^2=3/2
x= plus or minus the square root of 3/2. When you rationalize the denominator, that's plus or minus (3sqrt(2))/2. (if you haven't talked about complex or imaginary numbers in math yet, just ignore this part of my answer). The graph is a parabola opening down with a vertical stretch of 2 and it is moved up 3 (vertex is at (0,3), and also plot the points (1,1), (-1,1), (2, -5), and (-2,-5).).
I hope this makes sense. Quadratics are not easy for anyone at first. Good luck. :)
