5/2y+1 +3/2y-1=2
+1 -1 = 0
That leaves 5/2y + 3/2y = 2
Is that 5 / (2y) + 3 / (2y) = 2 or
is it (5/2) y + (3/2) y = 2?
5 / (2y) + 3 / (2y) = 2
8 / (2y) = 2
8 = 2(2y) = 4y
8/4 = y
y = 2
Or
(5/2) y + (3/2) y = 2
(8/2)y = 2
4y = 2
y = 2/4
y = 1/2
People need to be extremely careful about typing in the problems.
Don't make them ambiguous, and don't leave out important information.
