The perimeter of a rectangular swimming pool is 50 ft. If the length is one ft. more than twice the width, find the length and width

if P= perimeter and L = length and W = width then we can write the equation for this problem as follows:

L=2W+1

P=50

50= 2W + 1 + 2W+1 + W + W

50=6W + 2

-2 -2

48 = 6W

W = 8

L= 2 X 8 + 1

L= 17

Area_______

...

Perimeter is just twice of length added to twice of breadth.

Area is just length times breadth (not that you will use it here).
