Draw two diameters of the circle so that they bisect one another at right angles. The diameter is the length of the rectangle. (So cut the circle in half.) Now, cut out any one of the quadrants and straighten out the arc of the quadrant to form the width of the rectangle. The area of the rectangle will be the area of the original circle.
