10 pounds / 2 is 5 pounds spent on each.

5 pounds on food 5 pounds on bus.

1.5 more on bus = 5+1.5 (bus) and 5-1.5(food)

you spend: 6.5 pounds on bus and 3.5 on food.

£10 - £1.50 = £8.50

£8.50/2 = £4.25 (equal amount of both food and bus-fare)

£4.25+ £1.50 = £5.75 (We add £1.50 back on because we took it away from the orginal ten pounds to see how much amount is actually equal on both costs.)

£5.75 is bus fare

£4.25 is food

to check out if the bus fare is £1.50 more than food costs, you:

£5.75 - £4.25 = £1.50
