find k for x=1 (3x^2+kx+2)/(x+1)=3x+2

multiply both sides by (x+1)

(3x^2+kx+2) = (3x+2)(x+1)

Expand

3x^2+kx+2 = 3x^2 +3x+2

Therefore k=3.
