To solve this problem you need to understand how to translate it into an equation.

a number we can call x

less than means we subtract

times obviously we multiplly

the word "is" most often is =

more than is +

So let's take the first part. 2 less than 3 times a number

3 times a number is 3x

2 less than 3x is

3x-2

is the same as is =

3x-2=

now on the other side we have 3 times a number

3x

3 more than that is 3x+3

so we put it all together and we get

3x-2=3x+3

The problem with this is that the two sides are not equal so there is no solution. Are you sure you wrote the problem correctly?
