3/8 = (3*10*5)/(8*10*5) = 150/400

7/10 = (7*8*5)/(10*8*5) = 280/400

1/5 = (1*8*10)/(5*8*10) = 80/400

3/8 + 7/10 - 1/5 = (150 + 280 - 80)/400 = 350/400 = 7/8
