2ft 8 in = 32

5ft 3 in = 63 in

There are two ways to do this problem.  First you can convert feet to inches by multiplying feet by 12 and adding that total to the number of inches like this

2 feet 8 inches =

2 feet x 12 = 24 inches + 8 inches = 32 inches

5 feet 3 inches=

5 feet times 12 = 60 inches + 3 inches = 63 inches

32 inches + 63 Inches = 95 inches

If you want the answer in feet then you can divide 95 inches by 12

12 goes into 95 7 times with a remainder of 11

7 feet 11 inches

You can also add the number of feet together 2 feet + 5 feet = 7 feet

and the number of inches together 8 inches + 3 inches = 11 Inches

You get the same answer.
