find the slope of a line perpendicular to the line that passes through (4,11) and (-2,1)

The slope of the given line, m,  is (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
m = (11 - 1) / (4 - (-2))  =  10 / 6  = 5/3

The slope of the perpendicular is -1/m
-1 / (5/3)  =  -3/5
