given two points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) the distance is calculated by

sqrt((y2-y1)^2 + (x2-x1)^2)

in this case the two points are on the axes so it's simpler and can be calculated as

sqrt (7^2+7^2) = 7sqrt(2)

An easy way to remember this is that x comes before y in the alphabet.... so the first variable is x and the second is y. The x-axis is vertical (_) and the y-axis is horizontal ( l ) so (0, -7)  is on the y-axis going down 7 and (-7,0) is on the x-axis going left 7. Hope this helps!
