How to figure the square feet of different width boards necessary to cover 751 square feet of area?

The width of the flooring planks being intstalled is 2 1/4 inches and 3 1/4 inches. The planks will be installed in an alternating pattern of 2 1/4 inch then 3 1/4" then 2 1/4 inch and 3 1/4 inch.

The two kinds of pieces have a ratio of 2.25 : 3.25 to each other.

So the question is how to express 751 in a ratio of 2.25 : 3.25

2.25 : 3.25 = 9:13

9+13 = 22

751/22 doesn't reduce

9*751/22 = 6759/22

13*751/22 = 9763/22

You will have 6759/22 = 307.227272727 (repeats forever) square feet of the 2.25" planks.

You will have 9763/22 = 443.772727272 (repeats forever) square feet of the 3.25" planks.
