HOw do you subtract fractions with different denominators?

You convert the fractions to a common denominator. In this
problem, it is easy. 33 is the common denominator, so you
need change only the first fraction. Multiply the 7/11 by 3/3.

23 7/11 - 19 32/33 =
23 21/33 - 19 32/33 =

Of course, you are subtracting a larger fraction from a
smaller fraction, so you need to borrow 1 from the 23,
convert that to a fraction, and add it to the existing fraction.
>>> 33/33 + 21/33 = 54/33

22 54/33 - 19 32/33 = 3 22/33 = 3 2/3
