I don't know how well this will turn out using tables instead of hand-writing it, but try this:

      3x^2 -7x +2
3x + 1   9x^3 -18x^2 -x +2
    -(9x^3 +3x^2)
    0 -21x^2 -x
      -(-21x^2 -7x)
      0 6x +2
        -(6x +2)
        0 0

Answer:  (9x^3 - 18x^2 - x + 2) / (3x + 1) = 3x^2 - 7x + 2

Given (9x^3-18x^2-x+2) / (3x+1)
[(x-2)(3x-1)(3x+1)]/(3x+1)
(x-2)(3x-1)
