( A is the first term as used in most texts and d the common ratio)

nth term = A  + (n-1)d

                = 5/2 + (n-1)(-1/2)

                = 5/2 - (1/2)n + 1/2

                = 3 - (1/2)n

10th term = 3 - (1/2)(10)

                  = 3 -5

                          = -2
