8/5 is an improper fraction, so we need to convert it to a mixed number 8/5=(5+3)/5=5/5+3/5=1 3/5. 1 3/5 is bigger than 1 2/5, so is it less than 1 2/3? To answer this we divide a whole into fifteenths so that we can write 3/5=9/15 and 2/3=10/15. So 3/5 is smaller than 10/15 because 9<10. And 3/5>2/5, so 8/5 fits in between and x=8/5, 2nd answer.
