Jane and Ken share some money in the ration 5:3 Ken's share is $16 less than Jane's share. FInd each person's share.

The money is shared in the ratio 5:3

That means that Jane gets 5 parts of the total money and Ken gets three parts.

So then there are 8 parts of the money (5 + 3 = 8)

Jane has 2 parts more than Ken (5 - 3 = 2)

And those 2 parts are equal to $16 (the question says so)

So one part is equal to $8

Each person's share then is: Jane has 5 parts = $40, Ken has 3 parts = $24
