Lucy has D+2750, Kathy has 2D-280.

All together they have D+D+2750+2D-280=9870.

4D=9870+280-2750=7400, D=7400/4=$1850.

Lucy has 1850+2750=$4600, Kathy has 2*1850-280=$3420.

(Together they have 1850+4600+3420=$9870.)
