Solve theh following systems of equations.

4x+3y=5
2x-5y=-17       (multiply this equatikon by 2)

4x+3y=5
4x-10y=-34     (now subtract this equation from the one above it)

13y = 39

y = 3    (substitute this value for y into the equation 2x - 5y = -17)

2x - 15 = -17

2x = -2

x = -1

The solution is: x = -1, y = 3
