Difference of twice a number and 2 is 2x-2, where x is the number.

Three more than this is 2x-2+3=2x+1.

At most 50 means <=50 (less than or equal to 50).

So 2x+1<=50, 2x<=49. Therefore x<=49/2 or 24.5.

The number is less than or equal to twenty-four and a half.
