K=Kevin’s age now. 8 years ago he was K-8 years old. In 18 years time he will be K+18 years old.

So (3/4)(K-8)=(3/8)(K+18).

Multiply through by 8: 6(K-8)=3(K+18), 6K-48=3K+54, 3K=102, K=34. Kevin is 34 years old.
