how do you figure out percentages

just want to know how to figure out finding the percentage of something example 3.5% of 700 ?

convert the percentage to a decimal by moving the point over 2 spots to the left and taking off the percentage sign.  Remember to add a zero as a place holder

3.5%  moves over two spots to .035

multiply this by the number you want to find the percentage of

.035 x 700 = 24.5
