Yes, for a piecewise function, you divide the domain up into sections between the given limits and plot according to the function applicable to each function, but only up to the limits specified. The piecewise function may or may not be continuous, but it's meant to be plotted on the same graph. The description of the function should never contain overlapping functions, except perhaps where one piece joins another at an endpoint common to each. You should never find any ambiguity, where there are two different curves or lines for the same domain (x) values. If you think you have such an ambiguity, check that you have split the domain correctly and that the graph matches.
