2(y^2-10y)=x-36; 2(y^2-10y+25)-50=x-36; 2(y-5)^2=x+14, or x+14=2(y-5)^2. This is a parabola lying on its side. The vertex is at (-14,5). When y=5, x=-14. When y is any other value, x+14>0, so x>-14. Therefore x=-14 is the lowest value x can take and that is the vertex. The parabola lies on its side with the vertex pointing to the left, or negative and arms extending towards the right or positive.
