How is the Hierarchy between "Union" (U) and "Intersection) (b) if there are no parentheses?

 

For example: A U B n C = ?

A U B n C = (A U B) n C or A U (B n C)?

There is no rule. If paranthesis are not given then it is considered as a mistake.

So brackets are necessary.

But if I was forced to choose any one of them, then I would pick  (AUB) ∩ C.

Reason:  though it is not applicable in mathematics, but computer thinks AUB ∩ C as (AUB) ∩ C
