(1) 4x+3y=9

(2) 3x-2y=-23

(3) 2(1): 8x+6y=18

(4) 3(2): 9x-6y=-69

(5) (3)+(4): 17x=-51, x=-51/17=-3.

Substitute x=-3 in (2): -9-2y=-23, 9+2y=23, y=(23-9)/2=7.

CHECK:

(1) -12+21-9 OK, (2) -9-14=-23 OK.

SOLUTION: x=-3, y=7.

4x-3y=9           eq 1

3x-2y=-23        eq 2

eq 1 multiplied by 3

12x-9y=27        eq 3

eq 2 multiplied by 4

12x-8y=-92       eq 4

eq 3 - eq 4   (eliminating x)

-y=119

y=-119

substituting for y in eq 1

4x-3(-119)=9

4x+357=9

4x=9-357

4x=-348

x=-348/4

x=-87

I have done using  4x-3y=9 and 3x-2y=-23 and another solution has been posted

using the equations 4x+3y=9 and 3x-2y=-23 at the same time. You need to check the answer accordingly.
