Algebraic long division:

             5b² -2b   +8

4b+5 ) 20b³+17b²+22b+49

           20b³+25b²

                     -8b²+22b

                     -8b²-10b

                             32b+49

                             32b+40

                                       9

Answer: 5b²-2b+8 remainder 9. If 49 had been 40, there would have been no remainder.
