Solve the quadratic equation by factoring:

I know that I need to put this is standard form which I think would be 6y^2+by-2b^2 and If I did it correctly I get to the point of (3y+2b)(2y-b) however I don't know exactly how to factor it down further. to get 1/2,-2/3.

1 Answer

6y^2+by-2b^2 =0

 (3y+2b)(2y-b)=0

3y+2b=0

3y=-2b

y=-2b/3

or

2y-b=0

2y=b

y=b/2
