                 3x^2       - 7x              +2

3x + 1           ( 9x^3  - 18x^2  -  x  + 2)

               -       (9x^3  +  3x^2)

                                ( - 21x^2  -  x  +  2)

           -            ( - 21x^2  -  7x )

                                                     (6x  +  2)

              -                                      (6x   + 2)

                                                                  0

Therefore, (3x + 1)(3x^2  - 7x  +2) = 9x^3  - 18x^2  -  x  + 2
