5 into 11 is 2 remainder 1, place this remainder in front of the next digit 7 to make 17.

5 into 17 is 3 remainder 2, place this remainder in front of the next digit 0 to make 20.

5 into 20 is exactly 4, so the quotient is 234. 1170/5=234.

Another way (easier) is to divide 1170 by 10 by removing the zero: 117, then double this: 234.
