divide 5 by 8

8x=5

divide both sides by 8

x=5 over 8 (0.625)

First you divide both sides of the equation by 8, which gives you:

8x/8 = 5/8

Since 8x/8 = 8/8·x = 1·x = x, you now have:

x= 5/8
