John (6)

Nicole(2x6) = (12)

Together: (18)

So...6+12=18      Hope this helps!

John has 6 apples. Nicole has twice as many, so 6 x 2= 12.

To find the total, add the two together (12 plus 6=18) so your answer is 18 apples. ;)
