Is there a direct way to calculate this problem.  I found the answer of $667 by working out 25% of $500 = $125, then I worked out 25% of $125 which = $31.25 and added 125 +31.25 to 500 which = $656.25 but when $656.25 has 25% deducted the remainder is $492.18, still not $500 so then I kept guessing until I arrived at $667 to obtain $500.25 after 25% has been deducted.  Is there an easier way?

Thank you Anonymous,
After a friend  explained to me why you inverted the percentage to 75% I now can work out my sums.  If the commission is 33% I now understand to divide by 66%.  I recommend your answer - hope I have entered this recommendation correctly.
