2x + (x - 3) = 3(3x - 5)
2x + x - 3 = 9x - 15 {took out parentheses and used distributive property}
3x - 3 = 9x - 15 {combined like terms}
-3 = 6x - 15 {subtracted 3x from both sides}
12 = 6x {added 15 to both sides}
x = 2 {divided both sides by 6}
