Is 2^x a monomial, i.e., if it is one of the terms, could the expression that includes it as a term be considered a Polynomial?

What is the term 2^x called?

I need examples of terms, expressions that are NOT MONOMIALS.

I know x^(1/2) is not a monomial, or term in a Polynomial.

I know x^-2 is not a monomial or cannot be a term in a Polynomial.

I know monomials with a variable term must have positive whole number exponents.
