thirteen less than twice the number is 2 more than half the number

let X equal the number

2X - 13 =  ( 0.5X ) + 2

subtract 2 from both sides

2X - 15 = 0.5X

subtract .5X from both sides

1.5X - 15 = 0

1.5X = 15

X = 15 divided by 1.5

= 10
