The equation of the line can be represented as y=ax+b, where a is the slope and b the y intercept. Putting x=0 in the equation 2x-y=9, y=-9 and therefore b=-9. Now we have y=ax-9. This line passes through the point (1,-5) so we can write -5=a-9 and a=4. Therefore y=4x-9 and 4 is the slope.
