7x+2y=24 and 8x+2y=30
how to solve this system
of equation by eliminating?

You have +2y in both equations. You can
eliminate the y term by subtracting one
equation from the other.

  8x + 2y = 30
-(7x + 2y = 24)
--------------------
    x         =  6

Substitute that value into one of the
equations to solve for y.

8x + 2y = 30
8(6) + 2y = 30
48 + 2y = 30
2y = 30 - 48
2y = -18
y = -9

Substitute both values into the
other equation to verify your answers.

7x + 2y = 24

7(6) + 2(-9) = 24
42 - 18 = 24
24 = 24

Verified: x = 6 and y = -9
