My math book says to calculate the exact area of a circle and I don't know if I need to find the area or find the sqaure root.

The exact area of a circle as an actual number cannot be found but can be expressed by including the ratio π, which is approximately 3.142 and is the ratio of the circumference of any circle to its diameter. To find the area you need to find the radius, then the area is πr2 square units. If the radius is measured in inches, the area will be in square inches. So it doesn't involve directly finding any square root, unless you need square root to calculate the radius. Once you have the length of the radius, multiply it by itself (that is, square it) and then write π (Greek letter pi) after it. So if the radius was 3cm, for example, the area would be 3×3π=9π square cm. That is the exact area.
