There is polar and rectangular form.  The polar form in in radians and angles, while the rectangular form uses the X Y grid.

Polar to rectangular conversion: x = r COS theta y = r SIN theta

Rectangular to Polar conversion: r^2 = x^2 + y^2, TAN theta = y/x
