find the missing number: 7= 6 x/8

We know that 7 = 6 + 1 (don't we?)

We are given 6 on the right side of the equation,
plus a fraction that has to equal 1. The fraction
is in 8ths, and we should know that 8/8 = 1.
Therefore, 8 is the missing number.

7 = 6 8/8
