x+5=23/2=11.5

x=11.5 -5

x=6.5

2×9 =18+5 =23 Therefore x=9

(2×a) +5=23

2a+5=23

So u gotta add the too positive numbers:    

23+5=28

2a=28

a=28÷2

a= 14

So the answer is a=14
