4x+2y=10 and 5x-3y=18

SUBRACT

  2(5x-3y =18) ~ 10x-6y=36

--

  3(4x+2y=10)~12x+6y=30

-----------------------------------------

                           -2x       =6

                             x= -3

SUBSTITUTE

4x+2y=10

4(-3) + 2y = 10

-12 + 2y =10

2y= 10+12

2y = 22

y =11
