Okay, The triangle is a right triangle.  Sides 'a' and 'b' are touching the right angle.  'h' is the hypotenuese.  The squares are the areas that are being represented by the thereom.  a^2 + b^2 = h^2.

Simperly we do not know. If we knew we could apply the law to any triangle. However mathematicians know belive it has somthing to do with relationship between the (distance of the 90° angel to the middle of the hypothesis) and the other 2 shorter sides of the triangle
