18x + 6x = 5300
24x = 5300
x = 220.83333

Because you can't buy a partial item, you must round down.

x = 220

18x + 6x = 5300
18(220) + 6(220) = 5300
3960 + 1320 = 5280

Problem statement: How many of each can I buy for $5300?
