Combine 4y and 5y to get 5y -4+ y = -y.  Combine y and 5y to get 6y -4 = -y.  Take -y across the equation sign to get 7y -4 = 0.  Then take -4 across the equation sign to get 7y = 4.  Finally, divide by 7 to get y = 4 over 7.
