=How much is 3/5 of $10 and show your work please?

3/5 * 10 or 3/5 * 10/1

30/5 = 6 or $6

the pie analogy works for me here

the $10 is a pie, now divide the pie into as many pieces as the denominator is.

the pie is $10 divided into 5 pieces = $2 pieces

the fraction 3/5 means that you are keeping 3 of those 5 pieces

3 pieces = $6
