Call one number x, then the other number is 3x/5 and x-3x/5=40, so 2x/5=40 and x=200/2=100. The two numbers are 100 and 3*100/5=60.

Let one number = a

Second number = 3a/5

By given

a - 3a/5 =40
2a/5 =40
2a = 200
a = 100

Second number is = (3*100)/5 = 300/5 = 60

Hence two numbers are 60 and 100
