If Ef= 2x-10, FG = 4x-18 and EG = 20. Find the value if x, EF, FG. The drawing is not to scale

On the drawing, the sum of the two lengths EF and FG is equal to the length EG

i.e. EF + FG = EG

or, (2x - 10) + (4x - 18) = 20

2x + 4x - 10 - 18 = 20

6x - 28 = 20

6x = 48

x = 8
